Lex Luthor Gets Outsmarted by a Robot Dog Before Superman 2: Inside Krypto Saves the Day Season 2

Superman’s greatest enemy has returned, and a puppy-loving robot has humbled him. Months before Man of Tomorrow hits theatres, Lex Luthor has popped up in an unexpected corner of the DC universe.

Fans of superhero news and entertainment on Technosports will want to see how this one played out.

Where Is Lex Luthor Showing Up?

The villain appears in Season 2 of the animated short series Krypto Saves the Day, in Episode 2, “Robo-Pal.” It’s his latest appearance since the Peacemaker Season 2 cameo. The short isn’t canon to the DCU, as James Gunn has confirmed. Still, this Lex clearly borrows from Nicholas Hoult’s gleefully nasty live-action take.

Lex Luthor: Overview

The Plot: A Villain’s Plan Goes Woof

Lex starts the episode scheming inside his LexCorp tower. His goal is to take down Superman and Supergirl. His method is a robotic dog built to treat both heroes as enemies, a plan that sounds foolproof on paper.

There’s one problem. The robo-dog, named Autonomous Robot Fido, acts like a real dog. It chases balls, begs for playtime and ignores the “destroy the Super family” memo.

Then it spots Krypto through the window. The Superman logo on Krypto’s collar flags him as a target, so the robot attacks with lasers. Krypto just wants to play. The two become friends, and Lex’s grand design falls apart.

When Lex goes after Krypto himself, his own creation turns on him. Krypto and the robo-dog team up and give the billionaire a well-earned beating. There’s also a fun nod for eagle-eyed viewers: the Monkey Bots from Superman show up in Lex’s lab.

Why Lex Matters More Than Ever?

This cartoon cameo is a warm-up for something bigger. Gunn has described Man of Tomorrow as “as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie.” In the sequel:

• Lex acts more like an antihero than a pure villain.
• He teams up with Superman against the android threat Brainiac.
• He wears his comic-accurate green and purple war suit.

If Lex helps save the world, public opinion could swing his way. That opens the door to a presidential run, something the comics have explored before. For background on the character’s long history, see Lex Luthor on Wikipedia.

Setting Up Lex’s Future

The Peacemaker cameo hinted at the bigger picture. A jailed Lex traded his tech skills for a shot at redemption, and Gunn says that deal feeds directly into Man of Tomorrow. After that film, Lex could easily appear in DCU stories that have nothing to do with Superman.
