Leicester City break 40-year-old drought with Arsenal away win

From being excellent one week to being shambolic the next, Leicester City are proving themselves to be one of the most unpredictable teams this season with astonishing results almost every other week.

Things went the right way for Brendan Rodgers’s foxes as they managed to make history with a 0-1 victory against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

This is the first time that Leicester City have managed to win at Arsenal’s home ground since 1973.

This marks an end to a string of as many as 27 consecutive defeats to Arsenal in all competitions. This also includes Leicester’s title-winning 2015 campaign.

Jamie Vardy was once again Leicester’s knight in shining armour as he won the game for the foxes, coming off the bench in the 60th minute and scoring in the 80th.

While we’re on the topic of Jamie Vardy and scoring goals, get this: Last season’s Golden Boot winner has scored 11 goals in his last 12 appearances against Arsenal.

His performances against top 6 opposition have been remarkable this season, as he became the only other player to score a hat-trick twice against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the 5-2 thrashing of the Cityzens at home.

Vardy has appeared 5 times for Leicester in the Premier League this season. He has already scored 6 so far and finds himself only behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Son in the race for the Golden Boot this season.

All that said, Brendan Rodgers seems dependent on Vardy for the burden of goalscoring. The team struggles without the 33-year-old and it is time to bring in an heir to the former England international, who is not getting any younger despite his unbelievable form.

Leicester next face Leeds United in another exciting fixture for the foxes. They are currently 4th, with 12 points from 6 games.
