Squid Game superstar Lee Jung-jae is trading his survival drama intensity for romantic comedy charm in tvN’s upcoming series “Nice to Not Meet You.” The highly anticipated Monday-Tuesday drama promises a fresh take on celebrity culture and media dynamics when it premieres this November.

Lee Jung-jae Star Trying to Escape His Own Shadow

Lee Jung-jae takes on the role of Im Hyun Joon, a famous actor who dreams of becoming a romantic lead but has been pigeonholed into playing the same detective archetype over and over again. His character’s claim to fame came through the hit “Good Detective Kang Pil Gu” series, which cemented his place as a household name but also trapped him in typecasting hell.

The newly released posters perfectly capture this internal struggle. While one poster shows Hyun Joon in his iconic detective role with the tagline “You can’t fix people—but I do,” another reveals him hiding behind sunglasses in front of his own massive movie poster, desperately declaring, “I’m not Kang Pil Gu. I don’t know that man.”

Power-Packed Female Lead: The Glory’s Lim Ji-yeon

Lim Ji-yeon transforms into Wi Jung Shin, a journalist once hailed as a political desk ace and the youngest-ever recipient of a prestigious press award. After being ousted due to a massive corruption scandal, she finds herself reassigned to the entertainment desk, where her bumpy adjustment promises plenty of comedic gold.

The dynamic between a typecasted actor and a disgraced political journalist sets up an intriguing premise that explores themes of professional reinvention and personal authenticity.

Supporting Cast Adds Complexity

The series boasts an impressive supporting lineup that promises to elevate the storyline:

Actor	Character	Role Description
Kim Ji-hun	Lee Jae Hyung	Former baseball player, now CEO of Sports Eunsung
Seo Ji-hye	Yoon Hwa Young	Youngest department head in entertainment journalism
Jae Hyung’s ex with razor-sharp wit

Kim Ji-hun plays Lee Jae Hyung, a former baseball player who is now the CEO of Sports Eunsung. Warm and kind to everyone yet single-minded when it comes to the woman he loves, adding romantic tension to the mix.

Meanwhile, Seo Ji-hye stars as Yoon Hwa Young, the youngest-ever department head in entertainment journalism at Sports Eunsung and Jae Hyung’s ex. Her character promises to shake things up as the only one capable of knocking Wi Jung Shin off balance.

Behind the Scenes: Creative Team

The drama is helmed by director Kim Ga-ram (Good Partner) with scripts penned by Jung Yeo-rang (Doctor Cha), ensuring quality storytelling that balances humor with emotional depth. This creative partnership brings together expertise in both relationship dramas and workplace comedies.
