The highly anticipated Landman Season 2 premiered on Paramount+ November 16, 2025, and Cooper Norris finally gets his big break in the Texas oil fields. After expressing his ambition to follow in his father Tommy’s footsteps, the young entrepreneur scores a massive oil strike that could reshape the family’s future.

Does Cooper Successfully Strike Oil?

Yes! Cooper hits a significant oil deposit yielding approximately 6,200 units, which translates to serious money. His assistant Marty confirms the strike after the pressure valve begins “singing”—the telltale sign that drillers have reached oil.

Cooper calculates the numbers for his girlfriend Ariana: 500 barrels daily for two years, generating roughly $29,000 per day or about $10 million annually. It’s an extraordinary first-well success that validates his risky decision to use Ariana’s settlement money to purchase oil rights on small Texas land parcels.

Landman Season 2 Premiere Key Developments

Cami Miller	Takes control of M-Tex Oil	Delivers powerful speech to skeptical shareholders
Tommy Norris	Promotes Cami, manages crises	Receives news of mother’s death

Cami Miller Steps Into Power

Following Monty Miller’s death in Season 1, Cami becomes M-Tex’s sole owner while Tommy is promoted to president. The business community questions whether she can lead effectively, but Cami silences doubters with a commanding performance at a partner luncheon, declaring herself meaner than her late husband.

Cooper’s Success Creates New Complications

While the oil strike appears to be pure victory, the Season 2 trailer hints at potential trouble. Questions emerge about whether some drilling money came from questionable sources, suggesting Cooper’s triumph might bring unforeseen challenges as rivals learn about his lucrative well.

His girlfriend Ariana remains cautiously optimistic, having experienced hardship before. The sudden wealth represents a dramatic lifestyle change that could attract unwanted attention from competing oil companies or strain their relationship.

FAQs

Why does Cooper need to talk to Tommy despite his success?

Cooper likely needs Tommy’s expertise on the business side—how to transport oil, identify buyers, install pumpjacks when needed, and navigate dealings with oil executives and lawyers. While Cooper understands drilling, he lacks experience in the complex corporate aspects of the industry.

Will Ariana stay with Cooper after he becomes wealthy?

Ariana initially tells Cooper she wants to break up because she doesn’t want to live a wealthy life, having already received a settlement from her late husband’s workplace accident. However, by episode’s end, she appears to accept the situation, though concerns about their changing circumstances linger.
