Kohrra Season 2 OTT Release Date: When and Where to Watch It

Netflix has officially announced the Kohrra Season 2 OTT release date, confirming that the critically acclaimed crime thriller will return on February 11, 2026. The announcement marks the official premiere of the second season after the overwhelming success of Season 1, which set new benchmarks for Indian police procedurals following its July 2023 debut.

Kohrra Season 2 OTT Release Date and Streaming Platform

The Kohrra Season 2 OTT release date is confirmed as February 11, 2026, exclusively on Netflix. All episodes will be available to stream simultaneously on the platform, allowing subscribers to consume the complete mystery at their preferred pace. Netflix India made the official announcement, describing the upcoming season as “even more riveting” than its predecessor.

The announcement poster features both Barun Sobti and Mona Singh examining a case file intensely, hinting at the complex investigation and tense partnership that will define Season 2’s narrative arc. The strategic reveal positions the Kohrra Season 2 OTT release date within Netflix India’s premium content calendar, earmarking February as a significant streaming month.

Cast and Character Details

Barun Sobti returns as Assistant Sub-Inspector Amarpal Jasjit Singh, fondly known as Garundi. This season sees Garundi transferred from Jagrana to the Dalerpura Police Station, placing him in unfamiliar territory where he must navigate new power structures and test his instincts once again.

New Cast Addition and Dynamic

Mona Singh joins the Kohrra Season 2 cast in a pivotal new role as Dhanwant Kaur, a senior, no-nonsense police officer who becomes Garundi’s new superior. Strong-willed and uncompromising, Dhanwant Kaur brings sharp contrast to Garundi’s more inward personality, creating dynamic tension central to the season’s investigative framework.

The partnership between these two distinct personalities promises to reshape the show’s interpersonal dynamics, moving beyond Season 1’s detective relationships while maintaining the series’ commitment to exploring quieter tensions between characters and the psychological complexity underlying professional partnerships.

Production and Creative Team

Sudip Sharma, the show’s creator and showrunner, steps into the director’s role for the first time alongside Faisal Rahman. This marks a significant creative shift, with Sharma bringing intimate understanding of the show’s narrative DNA while expanding the directorial vision.

Plot and Narrative Focus

Kohrra Season 2 delves into a new murder investigation that begins with the discovery of a woman who has recently separated from her husband, found brutally murdered in her brother’s home. The case brings together Garundi and Dhanwant Kaur, forcing them to uncover layers of deceit and personal turmoil reflecting the intricate dynamics of the society they serve.

Much like its first outing, Kohrra Season 2 continues exploring the darker undercurrents of life in Punjab. The new season promises deeper investigation into fractured families, mental health struggles, and the silent violence hiding behind everyday normalcy. The emotional cost of policing remains as central as the crime itself.

Season 1 Legacy and Awards Recognition

The original Kohrra series garnered critical acclaim and multiple awards following its July 2023 debut. The show won Best Director and Best Actor at the Filmfare OTT Awards, establishing new benchmarks for Indian police procedurals. The series consistently ranked at the top of Netflix India charts for two weeks and remained popular across South Asian and Middle Eastern markets.

According to Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, the show’s appeal lies in its understated storytelling, with “honest simplicity” and “unassuming backgrounds” exposing “deep layers of complexity as the fog lifts episode on episode.”

Setting and Atmospheric Elements

The second season remains rooted in Punjab’s bleak, wintry terrain, where silence often speaks louder than confession and truth reveals itself in fragments rather than answers. The atmospheric backdrop proves essential to the narrative, with the region’s foggy, moody landscape becoming character itself within the investigative framework.

This geographical consistency maintains Season 1’s identity while allowing fresh narrative exploration within the familiar landscape. The Punjab setting grounds the crime narrative in authentic regional context, providing cultural specificity that distinguishes Kohrra from broader Indian crime thrillers.

Director’s Vision and Testimonial

Reflecting on returning to the Kohrra universe, Sudip Sharma expressed: “It’s quite exciting to be back. Season 1 allowed us to explore quieter tensions between people, between past and present.“

“This season as well, we’ve tried to bring forth as authentic a portrayal of Punjab as possible, with the characters rooted in a universal reality we’ve seen play out across the country. The show’s an emotional roller-coaster. Barun and Mona have done a fantastic job.”
