Kim Woo Bin Steps Up To The Plate As A Coach With A Secret in “GIFT”

Just when you thought Korean sports dramas couldn’t get more intriguing, Kim Woo Bin is stepping onto the baseball field — and he’s not playing the usual hero. He’s the coach. And he’s got a power nobody saw coming.

The first teaser for his upcoming drama “GIFT” just dropped, and it’s already got fans buzzing about one of the most unique sports-drama premises in recent memory.

What Is “GIFT” About?

“GIFT” follows Jung Min Yong, a former professional baseball pitching coach whose life takes a strange turn after an unexpected accident leaves him with a special ability. He ends up taking charge of a struggling, bottom-ranked high school baseball team — and sets out to turn things around in his own unconventional way.

In the newly released teaser, Kim Woo Bin fully embodies the role of a charismatic, no-nonsense coach, tossing out the now-iconic line: “Do you want to play baseball? Then let’s give it a try.” From there, the trailer shows the underdog team grinding through intense training, celebrating hard-earned wins, and bonding over ramyeon — classic sports-drama warmth with a supernatural twist.

GIFT: Overview

Why Fans Are Excited

Kim Woo Bin has built a reputation for picking roles that stretch beyond the typical leading-man mold, and “GIFT” looks like another example of that range. Pairing a grounded underdog sports story with a fantasy-tinged twist gives the drama a fresh identity in a genre that’s often predictable. The teaser’s tone — equal parts gritty training montage and feel-good camaraderie — suggests “GIFT” wants to hit both the heart and the adrenaline.

With a December 5 premiere, it’s shaping up to be one of the notable K-drama launches to close out the year.
