Kim So Hyun’s Life Unravels Before Graduation in ENA’s Emotional New Drama “Between Steps”

ENA’s upcoming drama Between Steps just released new stills, and they’re already hinting at a story that’s far more layered than your typical campus romance. Kim So Hyun transforms into a fashion student on the edge of everything falling apart, and the images capture that shift beautifully — from quiet confidence to visible distress.

The drama comes from the late acclaimed director Ahn Pan Seok, known for beloved hits like Something in the Rain and The Midnight Romance in Hagwon. It tells the love story of Park Min Jae (Choo Young Woo), a former swimmer who lost his right leg to illness, and Im Yoo Jin (Kim So Hyun), a top student whose promising future suddenly hangs by a thread.

Early stills show Im Yoo Jin thoughtfully choosing outfits and reviewing assignments with the focus of someone clearly excelling in her field. But the final released photo tells a different story — visibly tense, she’s seen struggling to hold herself together. After being unfairly branded a “troublemaker” following an unexpected incident, her graduate school dreams collapse overnight, pushing her into unfamiliar territory.

It’s at this low point that she crosses paths with Park Min Jae, who introduces her to a completely new world: robotics.

Between Steps: Overview

Kim So Hyun herself called the script “realistic and extremely honest,” adding that she was drawn to how the story uses romance to reflect real life — and saw it as a chance to grow as an actress under Ahn Pan Seok’s direction.
