Kim Ji Won Trades Her Serious Surgeon Role for Playful Fun in New Doctor X BTS Clip

Genius surgeons don’t always stay serious once the cameras stop rolling. SBS’s upcoming medical noir drama Doctor X just dropped a behind-the-scenes teaser, and it shows lead star Kim Ji Won swapping her character’s steely composure for genuine laughter and playful moments with her co-stars.

What the New Doctor X Teaser Reveals?

Doctor X is based on the popular Japanese series of the same name and follows Kim Ji Won as Gye Soo Jung, a brilliant surgeon who lets her skill speak for itself while exposing corruption within the medical establishment. The new making-of clip splits its focus between the cast’s dedicated on-set work and the lighter, more candid moments captured between takes.

Despite her character’s intense, no-nonsense demeanor, Kim Ji Won appears relaxed and cheerful off camera, sharing a warm hug and even a playful dance with co-star Lee Jung Eun, who plays Jang Hee Sook, the head of a medical staffing agency. Meanwhile, Kim Woo Seok, who takes on the role of surgical intern Park Tae Kyung, adds to the anticipation with a confident, camera-ready thumbs up.

Why Doctor X Is Already Generating Buzz?

Adapting a beloved Japanese medical drama comes with high expectations, but this teaser suggests strong chemistry among the cast, something that often translates into compelling on-screen dynamics. The contrast between Kim Ji Won’s composed, hard-edged character and her genuinely warm personality off set adds an extra layer of anticipation ahead of the premiere.

Doctor X is set to premiere on October 9 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS, giving fans just a couple more weeks to prepare for its medical noir storyline.
