Karan Kundrra Claps Back at Trolls: “If Not Parents, Then Who Will You Ask?”

When Karan Kundrra sought his parents’ blessing before getting down on one knee for Tejasswi Prakash, he probably didn’t expect the internet to have opinions about it. But it did — and now the actor has hit back at his critics with a response that’s refreshingly grounded, unapologetically desi, and honestly, quite relatable for most Indian households.

The couple, who fell in love inside the [Bigg Boss](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigg Boss) 15 house back in 2021, got engaged in a dreamy Dubai proposal that was captured on the reality show Desi Bling. But while the proposal itself was pure fairytale, what followed online was a debate Karan clearly didn’t see coming.

What Karan Kundrra Said — In His Own Words

In a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan on YouTube, Karan didn’t mince words. He pushed back against the notion that consulting your family before a life-changing decision is somehow old-fashioned or weak. His point was simple: family doesn’t become irrelevant just because you’re in a relationship.

He also made it crystal clear that Tejasswi herself had absolutely no problem with him involving his family in the decision — and that most of the backlash came from strangers on social media, not from the person who actually mattered in this situation.

His now-viral Kardashians comparison — essentially asking critics whether they were raised in India or in a Western celebrity bubble — struck a chord with fans who saw it as a lighthearted but pointed defence of Indian family values.

The TejRan Story So Far

Why This Debate Matters Beyond the Couple

What makes this story resonate beyond just TejRan fans is that it taps into a genuinely ongoing cultural conversation in India — the balance between personal autonomy and family involvement in major life decisions. Karan’s view is firmly rooted in the idea that seeking guidance from loved ones is a sign of respect, not dependence, and that a partner entering your life doesn’t replace your existing relationships.

It’s a perspective many young Indians will quietly agree with, even if it doesn’t always make for the most viral take. And the fact that Tejasswi — an independent, successful actress who clearly makes her own choices — was entirely fine with it only adds weight to his argument.

The couple’s wedding date is yet to be announced, but with the engagement now public and the love story well and truly documented on screen and off, it’s safe to say TejRan’s next chapter is one fans are eagerly waiting for.
