Kamaljeet & Suruchi Singh Strike Gold: India’s Asian Games 2026 Shooting Sensation

India’s shooting range turned electric in Nagoya on September 25, 2026, as Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh fired their way to gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, smashing an Asian Record along the way. This wasn’t just another medal — it was a fairytale built in 24 hours.

A Last-Minute Pairing That Struck Gold

Kamaljeet wasn’t even supposed to be Suruchi’s partner. He was drafted in at the eleventh hour, replacing Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve after Kamaljeet narrowly missed the individual final (finishing ninth) while Kedarling placed 35th. What followed was nothing short of magic — the freshly paired duo clicked instantly, first shattering the qualification record with 587 points, then dominating the final with a combined 484.6, eclipsing Uzbekistan’s previous Asian Record of 481.3.

For fans following India’s medal charge at the Asian Games, this marks the country’s second gold of the 2026 edition, right after the women’s cricket team’s historic win over Sri Lanka.

Why This Win Matters?

Beyond the medal, the duo rewrote history books twice in two days — first in qualification, then in the final. Their qualification score of 587 (with 29 inner 10s) broke the previous mark of 577 set by Sarabjot Singh and Divya Subbaraju at Hangzhou 2022, and even equalled the existing Asian Record held by Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker since 2021.
