Jorge Mendes Barcelona Meeting: Laporta Talks With Super-Agent After Summer Window

Jorge Mendes Barcelona: Jorge Mendes stepped into Joan Laporta’s office in Catalonia just days after Barcelona’s summer transfer window slammed shut. The meeting ensured the super-agent’s direct line to the club’s leadership remained firmly open.

The meeting attracted attention because Mendes represents several Barcelona players, including João Cancelo, Marc Casadó and Alejandro Balde. However, the discussion was described as a routine relationship meeting rather than an attempt to plan future transfers.

Jorge Mendes, Barcelona: Barcelona’s Mendes meeting was routine

According to Barcauniversal, citing Mundo Deportivo, Mendes’ visit followed the completion of Barcelona’s summer transfer window business. The meeting gave Laporta and the Portuguese representative an opportunity to review their ongoing relationship after the transfer window had closed.

There was no indication that Barcelona were using the meeting to negotiate a new signing, arrange a player departure or prepare a deal for the next window. The club and Mendes have several overlapping interests, but those connections do not automatically mean that a transfer plan is active. The timing also matters. With the next window still months away, Barcelona had little reason to make firm decisions about hypothetical deals involving Mendes’ clients. Any discussions about squad changes can take place later if circumstances develop.

Jorge Mendes Barcelona: João Cancelo and Marc Casadó provide the recent context

Mendes’ presence in Barcelona comes after two notable pieces of business involving his clients. Barcelona completed the permanent signing of João Cancelo on a three-year contract, giving the right-back a longer-term place in the squad.

Marc Casadó, meanwhile, moved to Deportivo de A Coruña on loan until the end of the season. The two deals show why Mendes remains an important contact for Barcelona’s football leadership, even when no fresh agreement is being negotiated. That relationship also sits alongside other recent Barcelona transfer stories. Alejandro Balde remains a separate issue

Alejandro Balde is another Mendes client whose situation has drawn attention. The left-back’s role has been reduced under Flick, while interest from Liverpool has been mentioned in coverage of his position at Barcelona. That interest has not translated into a planned move. The latest information does not point to Barcelona or Mendes actively arranging Balde’s departure, and the meeting with Laporta was not presented as a negotiation over the defender’s future.

Balde’s situation could still change if his playing time, Barcelona’s squad plans or outside interest develops. For now, the club has no confirmed movement involving him. Any decision would also need to account for Barcelona’s sporting priorities and the player’s role under Flick. Barcelona’s contract planning is being watched across the squad, including developments around Gerard Martin Renewal: Barcelona, while other transfer situations have attracted attention through Ronald Araujo Liverpool Loan:.

What happens next for Barcelona and Mendes?

The immediate next step is straightforward: Barcelona will continue the season with the current squad while Mendes remains available for future discussions. No new transfer has been tied to the meeting, and no additional movement involving Balde has been confirmed.

Mendes’ regular contact with Laporta could become relevant again when Barcelona begin assessing the next transfer window. Until then, João Cancelo’s three-year deal and Casadó’s season-long loan remain the latest completed matters involving the agent’s Barcelona clients. The club’s next decisions will depend on playing-time patterns, squad needs and any formal approaches that emerge before the next window opens.
