A Date That Moved Around
This wasn’t the first date fans heard. Rajinikanth earlier said the film would arrive on June 12, 2026, but that slipped. In July, Sun Pictures locked October 15 with a teaser, and the date has held ever since, even amid rumors of another delay. The Dussehra window gives the sequel a strong festival-time launch.
Who Is in the Cast?
Alongside Rajinikanth, the film features Mohanlal and Vinayakan, returning from the first part, plus Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa. Reports also mention S.J. Suryah and Mithun Chakraborty, and a cameo by Vijay Sethupathi. Nelson has called it an action comedy, with a Kerala-flavored backdrop hinted at in the trailers and songs. The Hindi Version Drama
Reports earlier suggested the Hindi version might skip big multiplex chains like PVR INOX and Cinepolis over a dispute about the OTT window. Those chains usually expect an eight-week gap, while Sun Pictures has reportedly agreed to a shorter four-week window. The team has since officially confirmed the Hindi release for October 15, so there’s no change.
What About OTT?
No official OTT date has been announced. Reports say Prime Video bought the rights for about Rs. 160 crore, with a tentative November premiere. Treat that as unconfirmed until the makers say otherwise.
Why the Hype Is Real?
The original Jailer was one of 2023’s biggest Tamil hits, earning a reported Rs. 650 crore worldwide. With the same director, composer and hero, expectations are sky-high.
