Apple‘s upcoming iPhone 14 Series will not feature ProMotion displays with high refresh rates, however, The Elec now offers more details on the exact types of displays that will be used on the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup.
Apple iPhones will all feature Samsung display panels:
The vanilla version of the iPhone 14 features a 6.1″ display panel while the Max variant will carry a 6.7″ LTPS back panel with the M11 material set, at least that is what Samsung calls it. The M-Series of material sets has exclusively been reserved for the Cupertino giant’s flagship lineup of smartphones. Samsung also uses these panels on its own flagship devices.
The Pro version and the Pro Max version of the 14 Series will use an LTPO panel on the rear which will enable the ProMotion feature and they will feature the newly-developed M12 material set.
If we take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Series lineup, the S22+ and S22 Ultra had the M11 Set while the S22 features the older M10 set. The upcoming Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 will be the first to feature the brand new M12 material sets.
Samsung will be the primary supplier for all the iPhones and it has an order to supply 80 million panels. LG will also be involved in building panels for the upcoming lineup. These panels will be made with the RS-L material set, last year LG built the 13 Series panel with the RS-K Set.
The Elec’s report leaves out BOE, which managed to only get a small order to make panels.
