Intel B560 chipset motherboards will support overclocking, Core i9-11900K blows away Ryzen 7 5800X

Intel will be launching its 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S desktop CPUs next month as well as the new 500 series chipset motherboards. This will bring a lot of new features that were only found only on AMD motherboards until now like PCIe Gen 4.0 and DDR4 3200 MHz memory support.

Apart from these features, Intel’s new CPUs will support their onboard Intel Xe Gen 12 Graphics, which gives 50% higher performance than Gen9 integrated graphics. Also, the new Cypress Cove core architecture is said to provide handsome IPC gains over Comet Lake.

Then features like Thunderbolt 4 and Integrated CNVi & Wireless-AX features are also very lucrative with the new Intel 500 series motherboards which are expected to ship from 11th January onwards. However, the new 11th Gen CPUs are said to go through mass production in January and you can expect them in market in February or March.

Meanwhile, the leaks have confirmed that the upcoming budget B560 motherboards will support overclocking which up until now was exclusive to expensive Z-series motherboards only. Obviously, for Intel, this is a clear admiration from AMD who did this with its B-series motherboards.

Intel Core i9-11900K Benchmarks:

Intel’s upcoming 8 core flagship has been leaked recently, a Chiphell forum member did end up posting alleged performance benchmarks of the Core i9-11900K (Qualification Sample). It was tested in benchmarks like CPU-Z, Cinebench R23, and Cinebench R20:

As we see in the results that the Rocket Lake-S chip’s single-threaded performance is quite impressive, up to 20% improvement in the single-core is too good to be believed. So, although you can take this result with a pinch of salt, if this is the case, Intel’s effort to squeeze everything out of 14nm node is fantastic.
