Instagram Just Turned Your Meta Glasses Footage Into a Whole New Storytelling Tool

Hands-free filming was always the big promise of smart glasses. Now Instagram is finally giving that footage somewhere exciting to go. If you own a pair of Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, or Meta Glasses, your Stories are about to feel a lot less static and a lot more immersive.

Meta has rolled out a fresh set of interactive formats and editing tools built specifically for glasses footage, and honestly, it’s the kind of update that makes you want to record everything again just to try it out.

Spin View: Let People Explore Your Perspective

Traditional Stories give viewers one fixed frame. Spin view breaks that completely. Once you add it to a Story, your followers can physically rotate their phone to pan around and explore the scene exactly as you experienced it — like handing someone your eyes for a few seconds. It’s a small feature with a genuinely different feel, especially for travel, events, or anything visually rich.

Multi-Cam: Two Angles, One Story

This one solves a problem creators have quietly dealt with forever — showing your hands and your face at the same time. Multi-cam automatically syncs footage from your phone and your glasses into a single story, so you can show your hands at work through the glasses while talking to the camera on your phone. Think cooking, DIY projects, or behind-the-scenes content, now with proper context instead of guesswork.

New Editing Tools Built for POV Footage

Along with the two new formats, Instagram added a native toolkit made specifically for wide-angle glasses footage:

• Expand – reframes your wide POV shot so the important action stays front and center instead of getting lost in the frame.
• Audio – reduces background noise and boosts your voice, useful when you’re narrating in a crowded or noisy space.
• Speed – slows footage down for tutorial-style detail or speeds it up for high-energy moments.

How to Use It

Upload your glasses footage to Stories as usual — you’ll spot a small glasses icon in the top-left corner of eligible clips in your gallery. On the edit screen, tap the glasses icon next to your other editing tools, and the new formats and controls will appear at the bottom of the screen.

Smart glasses have been steadily evolving from a novelty into an actual content tool, and Meta’s continued investment in wearable augmented reality devices shows this direction isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
