When Inspector Rishi dropped on Amazon Prime Video on March 29, 2024, Tamil OTT audiences got something they didn’t know they were waiting for — a horror crime drama that blended supernatural folklore with gritty police procedural storytelling. The jaw-dropping Season 1 finale left one chilling question unanswered, and fans have been asking the same thing ever since: when is Season 2 coming?
Yes — and it came straight from the source. Lead actor Naveen Chandra took to social media to announce that Inspector Rishi Season 2 is currently in the making, uploading a photo of the Season 2 script — hinting the new season is in progress. Creator J.S. Nandhini has also revealed she is actively working on the new season.
Amazon Prime Video is expected to officially greenlight it soon, given its strong track record of renewing Tamil originals.
Season 1 ended on a deliberately open, spine-chilling note. While the crew thwarted the villains and the miners were saved, the mystery of the truck driver’s death remained unsolved — and the last shot showed the Vanaratchi climbing the walls, leaving open the question of whether a real forest spirit truly exists.
Season 2 is expected to pick up this dangling thread — either continuing Rishi’s investigation into the true nature of the Vanaratchi or sending him into an entirely new supernatural case in the wilderness. Expect the same heady mix of Tamil folklore, poaching conspiracies, and psychological horror that made Season 1 so unique.
