The gold-medal clash saw Indian batters put on a batting masterclass before the bowlers sealed the job, turning what could have been a close contest into a one-sided rout.

A Batting Blitz That Set the Tone

Smriti Mandhana lit up the innings with 79 off just 45 balls, smashing seven sixes and five fours. Shafali Verma added 48 off 29 balls, while Richa Ghosh’s unbeaten 49 off 22 balls in the closing overs powered India to a commanding 216/3.

Spinners Seal the Gold

Chasing a steep target, Sri Lanka’s batting collapsed against India’s spin attack, bundled out for just 69 runs in 15.4 overs. Deepti Sharma led the bowling with three wickets, while Shafali Verma, Shreyanka Patil, and Shree Charani picked up two each. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Atapattu top-scored with 29 for the losing side.

Pakistan Clinches Bronze in Style

In the third-place playoff, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 31 runs, successfully defending a target of 145 thanks to strong performances from captain Fatima Sana and off-spinner Umm-e-Hani, marking their third medal in the event after golds in 2010 and 2014.

India’s Medal Tally Gets a Major Boost

The gold medal catapulted India from 18th to 8th on the overall Asian Games medal table, now holding seven medals in total — one gold, four silver, and two bronze.
