Indian striker Jeje took part in online PUBG Mobile tournament to help a Coronavirus volunteer

The Chennaiyan FC forward joined other footballers to participate in an online tournament of one of the most famous mobile games – PUBG Mobile.

H Lalvenmawii, an 18-year-old volunteer died last week while doing the duty of enforcing the lockdown due to Coronavirus pandemic in a remote corner of the state. She was camping at the Myanmar border to enforce the lockdown but unfortunately contracted malaria that caused her death on 9th June.

This PUBG Mobile tournament was organised to aid the family of the volunteer who died while enforcing the lockdown to contain the Coronavirus pandemic.

A total of 31 professional footballers from Mizoram along with many others took part in the online gaming tournament to help raise funds for Lalvenmawii’s family.

Jeje Lalpekhlua said everyone needs to come together to “help one another” to combat the current situation. He told, via Hindustan Times: “For me, it’s simple. Every person should be ready to come out and help one another. It doesn’t matter where we are from, and what we have. Everyone has to help and that is why I am here for the cause.”

“I sincerely hope that we are going to get through this together, and everything will be normal in Mizoram soon.”

He further added: “The people of Mizoram have shared their sincere condolences for the deceased. Hence, we decided to have this exhibition match to honour the deceased patriot.”

Samuel Lalmuanpuia, Jerry Lalrinzuala and Laldanmawia Ralte also participated in the PUBG Mobile tournament which had over 100 participants, as viewers watched via live stream and contributed to the cause of helping the volunteer.
