Indian League of Legends Team Departs for Macau to Secure Asian Games 2023 Seeding

India’s League of Legends team is all set to compete in Macau against Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan in offline fixtures from June 21-22. These matches will determine the team’s seeding for the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Led by captain Akshaj Shenoy, the Indian League of Legends team consists of skilled athletes Samarth Arvind Trivedi, Mihir Ranjan, Aditya Selvaraj, Aakash Shandilya, and Sanindhya Malik. They will face Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan on June 21, followed by a match against Kyrgyzstan on June 22.

Having qualified for the Asian Games through the National Esports Championships (NESC) organized by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI), the team is determined to showcase their talents against top League of Legends teams and secure a favorable seeding.

Captain Akshaj Shenoy expressed confidence in the team’s preparedness and highlighted the support received from ESFI. He mentioned the training provided by the Esports and Training organization, FITGMR, partnered with ESFI, and the assistance ESFI offered in resolving participation conflicts for some players. The team is excited to give their best and make their country proud.

Esports will make its official medal event debut at the Asian Games 2023, where India will participate in four titles: League of Legends, FIFA Online 4, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, and DOTA 2.

Mr. Lokesh Suji, Director of Esports Federation of India & Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation (AESF), commended the League of Legends team’s journey and expressed confidence in their ability to showcase India’s Esports potential on the international stage.

The Asian Games, originally scheduled for September last year, will now take place from September 23 to October 8, 2023, solidifying Esports’ entry into India’s mainstream sports landscape.

The seeding fixtures for the DOTA 2 team, consisting of skipper Darshan, Krish, Abhishek, Ketan, and Shubham, will be conducted online on July 13. Street Fighter V athletes Mayank Prajapati and Ayan Biswas will travel to Hangzhou, China, for their respective seeding fixtures from July 22-23. The dates for the seeding matches of FIFA Online 4 athletes Charanjot Singh and Karman Singh Tikka will be announced soon by the AESF.
