Missed catching Dhanush’s latest directorial on the big screen? Good news — your idli shop cravings are about to be satisfied from the comfort of your couch.
Idli Kadai, which released in theatres on October 1, 2025, wrapped up its theatrical run and is now heading to streaming. If you’ve been waiting to see what all the buzz is about, here’s everything you need to know about the OTT release.
When and Where to Watch Idli Kadai
The film will start streaming on Netflix from October 29, 2025 — just 28 days after hitting theatres, a fairly quick digital turnaround for a big theatrical release. Netflix confirmed the news themselves with a warm caption that translates to: an idli shop started with love can only be run with love. Fitting, considering what the film is all about.
What’s the Story About?
At its heart, Idli Kadai is about roots, ambition, and coming home. It follows Murugan, a young man who leaves his hometown and his family’s beloved idli shop behind to chase a bigger career in Madurai. But life pulls him back after his father’s sudden passing, forcing him to pick up the pieces — both emotionally and literally, as he takes over the family shop.
Along the way, he navigates a broken engagement, rekindled purpose, a new romance, and a vengeful rival determined to see him fail. It’s equal parts family drama and underdog story, wrapped in small-town warmth.
