Fresh off her breakout success in “Saiyaara,” Aneet Padda is stepping into far more intense territory with “Hunkkaar – The Roar.” The newly released trailer signals a gripping, socially charged drama that doesn’t shy away from examining how survivors are treated when they speak out against powerful figures.

What the Trailer Reveals?

The story follows Aneet Padda’s character Meenu as she walks into a police station to accuse Baapji, a revered spiritual guru played by Raghubir Yadav, of abuse. Rather than her allegations being taken seriously outright, Meenu instead faces intense scrutiny over her character and motives — even from her own father, who struggles to understand her decision to come forward.

Fatima Sana Shaikh Steps In as the Officer Who Won’t Back Down

Playing Officer Jasleen Singh Soni, Fatima Sana Shaikh takes on the role of the one figure willing to investigate Meenu’s claims seriously, despite immense pressure. As she digs deeper, Jasleen finds herself confronting Baapji’s extensive network of influence, facing intimidation tactics designed to make her drop the case entirely.

This kind of narrative — where institutional power and social reverence complicate justice for survivors — echoes real-world patterns often documented in cases involving abuse of power, a dynamic that has been studied extensively in the context of institutional accountability and survivor advocacy worldwide.

A Legal Battle With High Stakes

The courtroom drama sharpens further with Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub playing a lawyer determined to support Meenu’s fight, while Ram Kapoor takes the opposing side, defending Baapji against the allegations. Arjun Mathur rounds out the cast, tracking the unfolding controversy from another angle entirely.
