House of the Dragon Season 3 Trailer Out: Everything You Need to Know

House of the Dragon has unveiled its Season 3 trailer and June 21 premiere date for the launch of the HBO Game of Thrones spin-off. The long wait is finally over for fans of the Targaryen civil war saga. House of the Dragon Season 3 will premiere on Sunday, June 21, 2026. The new trailer has already set the internet on fire, teasing one of the most chaotic and emotionally charged seasons of the series yet.

House of the Dragon Season 3 OTT Release Date and Platform Details

Episodes will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max. Fans will get one episode per week, as we’ve had from the days of Game of Thrones. Episodes won’t drop on HBO Max until they air on the live HBO channel at 9 p.m. ET/PT. In India, JioHotstar distributes the show. In the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the series airs on Sky Atlantic and its accompanying streaming service Now.

What the New Trailer Reveals

A new trailer for the upcoming season teases the ongoing battles between the Blacks and the Greens, with Daemon standing by Rhaenyra to help her win back the Iron Throne. He tells her in the trailer that she has “power no man has ever wielded.” 

The teaser gave us a long-awaited look at the new episodes, including Jaehaerys riding his dragon into the Battle of the Gullet, a glimpse of Aemond on the Iron Throne, and our best look yet at James Norton as Ormund Hightower. The season features major confrontations, including the Battle of the Gullet and personal vendettas.

The Story Continues

Based on the George R.R. Martin book “Fire & Blood,” the series is set roughly 200 years prior to the events of “Game of Thrones” and tells the story of the Targaryen civil war that is known in Westeros as the Dance of Dragons. Season 3 picks up where Season 2 left off, an all-out war in the Dance of the Dragons and the Battle of the Gullet. Daemon has now chosen to stand by his wife, Rhaenyra, and help her win back the Iron Throne.

Is This the Final Season?

No, House of the Dragon Season 3 won’t be the final season — but Season 4 will be. Showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed that things will wrap up after four seasons in a press conference after the Season 2 finale, and HBO boss Casey Bloys confirmed the news in February 2026. Season 4, meanwhile, is marked for 2028.

The Wider Game of Thrones Universe

HBO is currently prepping Season 2 of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” another Game of Thrones prequel which debuted its critically-acclaimed first season earlier this year. Warner Bros. is also developing a prequel film focused on Aegon’s Conquest.
