Meet Cha Min Wook: The Gentle Soul Caught Between Love and Friendship
Hong Jong Hyun transforms into Cha Min Wook, a character who embodies every quality you’d want in a best friend. With his warm personality and puppy-like charm, he’s been by Jang Hee Won’s side for 20 years—through breakups, career victories, and late-night drinking sessions.
But what happens when friendship feelings evolve into something deeper? Min Wook finds himself navigating the complicated territory between protecting his best friend and confessing his true emotions.
The Cast That Brings Chemistry to Life
Choi Jin Hyuk as Kang Doo Joon – The perfectionist CEO of Taehan Liquor and second-generation chaebol who swore never to marry. After his brother’s death, he dedicated himself entirely to family and business—until one impulsive night changed everything.
Oh Yeon Seo as Jang Hee Won – The youngest manager in Taehan Liquor’s new product development team who scores 100 at work but zero in love. Scarred by her parents’ divorce, she chose single life—before an unexpected pregnancy flipped her world upside down.
Dasom as Hwang Mi Ran – Hee Won’s outspoken drinking buddy and sister-like friend who finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Min Wook, creating fractures in their tight-knit trio.
The Complicated Love Rectangle
The drama explores a four-way romance that begins with a workplace one-night stand and spirals into tangled emotions. When Hee Won discovers she’s pregnant with her CEO’s baby, Min Wook must decide whether to confess his long-hidden feelings or support his friend’s unexpected journey into motherhood.
Meanwhile, Mi Ran’s growing attraction to Min Wook threatens to shatter the friendship dynamic the three have maintained since their school days.
From Controversy to Triumph: Hong Jong Hyun’s Casting Journey
Hong Jong Hyun stepped into the role as a replacement for Yoon Ji On, who departed following drunk driving charges in September 2025. Despite joining mid-production, Hong brought such authenticity to Min Wook that the script reading showcased undeniable chemistry among all four leads.
His recent work in What Comes After Love proves he excels at portraying emotionally complex characters torn between duty and desire—perfect preparation for a man who’s loved his best friend for years while watching from the sidelines.
Why Positively Yours Stands Apart
Based on Lee Jung’s popular webtoon that captured millions of readers, the drama flips traditional romance conventions. Instead of dating leading to marriage and then pregnancy, the story begins with the unexpected consequence and works backward through the relationship milestones.
The series tackles modern relationship anxieties—career ambitions versus family expectations, trauma from broken homes, and the courage required to choose happiness over societal pressure.
Script Reading Reveals Irresistible Chemistry
The first script reading proved the cast’s synergy is genuine. Soompi reported that even during initial readings, Choi Jin Hyuk and Oh Yeon Seo showcased chemistry that brings the webtoon’s emotional depth to life, while Hong Jong Hyun’s gentle portrayal of Min Wook already has fans rooting for the second lead.
Production Details
Principal photography began in July 2025, with the team working to recreate the webtoon’s distinct visual style and emotional beats. The drama represents Channel A’s continued investment in quality romantic comedies that resonate with contemporary audiences.
