Known for fast pitches, big boundaries, and electric crowds, Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) has produced some jaw-dropping batting spectacles over the years. While Australian conditions traditionally favor bowlers, a few fearless batting units have shattered that belief by piling up 250+ totals—a rare feat in T20 cricket.
Here’s a compact, fan-friendly breakdown of the highest team totals in BBL history, topped by a record that still stands tall.
Top 5 Highest Team Totals in BBL
| Rank | Team & Match | Score | Season | Key Highlight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Melbourne Stars vs Hobart Hurricanes | 273/2 | 2021–22 | Glenn Maxwell’s 154* |
| 2 | Brisbane Heat vs Perth Scorchers | 258/2 | 2025–26 | Record chase |
| 3 | Perth Scorchers vs Brisbane Heat | 257/6 | 2025–26 | Allen–Connolly stand |
| 4 | Adelaide Strikers vs Brisbane Heat | 251/5 | 2024–25 | Matthew Short’s 109 |
| 5 | Sydney Thunder vs Sydney Sixers | 232/5 | 2020–21 | Alex Hales’ 110 |
🧨 Match-by-Match Highlights
5️⃣ Sydney Thunder – 232/5 (BBL 2020–21)
Thunder stunned the Sixers in Adelaide with a dominant total, powered by Alex Hales’ blazing 110, sealing a 46-run win.
4️⃣ Adelaide Strikers – 251/5 (BBL 2024–25)
Led by Matthew Short’s 54-ball 109, the Strikers went berserk at home. Handy cameos from Chris Lynn and Alex Ross kept the pressure relentless.
3️⃣ Perth Scorchers – 257/6 (BBL 2025–26)
At the Gabba, Finn Allen (79) and Cooper Connolly (77) stitched a massive stand. Ironically, this total was later chased—still one of the wildest BBL nights.
2️⃣ Brisbane Heat – 258/2 (BBL 2025–26)
The highest successful chase in BBL history. A record 212-run partnership between Jack Wildermuth and Matt Renshaw rewrote the playbook.
1️⃣ Melbourne Stars – 273/2 (BBL 2021–22)
The gold standard. Glenn Maxwell’s unbeaten 154* at the MCG remains the highest individual score and the highest team total in BBL history. The Hurricanes were outgunned by 106 runs.
