Hearthstone: Cataclysm officially launched on March 17, 2026, bringing 145 new cards across all 11 classes, the returning Colossal keyword, and a brand-new mechanic that lets players direct buffs to specific cards in-hand and in-deck. With 2024’s sets rotating out of Standard simultaneously, the board has been wiped clean — which means Day 1 is genuinely anyone’s game.

The Decks Worth Prioritising First

If you’re new to the expansion and want to hit the ground running, Blood Death Knight is arguably the strongest out of the gate. Victor Nefarius creates a discounted Dragon/Undead hybrid that can swing games alone, while Infested Breath and Hideous Husk Leeches provide the sustain that makes the deck feel nearly unlosable in slower matchups. Arisen Onyxia and Deathwing are there as a safety net, but you may rarely need them.

For pure fun, Nozdormu Aggro Paladin is the pick. The new Nozdormu grants all friendly minions Divine Shield at end of turn — and any minion that already has Divine Shield gets a free +3/+3 on top of it. Sandfury Aura doubles the effect. Boards become essentially unkillable in two turns.

Spell Damage Mage introduces the expansion’s flashiest new mechanic — targeting specific cards in-hand and in-deck for buffs. Archmage Kalec upgrades every spell in your hand and deck with Spell Damage +1, turning the split Arcane Flow pieces into a 10+ damage nuke for just 4 mana combined. It’s the kind of combo that ends games out of nowhere.

Deathwing, Worldbreaker deserves special mention as a cross-class Hero Card that appears in four of these ten decks — Shaman, Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Warlock, and Warrior all have a version. His Herald-scaling opening effect and a +5 Attack Hero Power make him one of the most universally impactful new cards in the set.
