What Indian Esports Leaders Say?

VoiceKey takeaway
Akshat Rathee, NODWIN GamingA promising platform, but titles, formats and competitive structure will decide its impact
Animesh Agarwal, S8UL EsportsA standalone event can build its own audience, and a two-year cycle gives athletes a steady target
Vishal Parekh, CyberPowerPC IndiaBrings parents more confidence and pushes the ecosystem to professionalise, including better hardware
Akshaj Shenoy, India’s League of Legends captainMakes national-team play a regular part of a career

Why It Matters for India?

Esports has featured at the Asian Games, but as one event among many. A dedicated Games puts gaming at the centre. Agarwal expects broader participation across titles and more visibility for players with brands outside the esports world.

Shenoy, who has represented India at the last two Asian Games, is excited about the biennial schedule. More frequent national-team competition means more time to prepare and compete together at the highest level.

The Catch: Details Still Matter

Rathee’s caution is fair. Until the game titles and qualification format are announced, nobody knows how many Indian players will benefit. Parekh adds that opportunity alone isn’t enough. India will need organised teams, stronger training structures and the right technology to compete with Asia’s best.

What to Watch For

  • The official list of titles and formats
  • How India selects its national squads
  • Confirmation of the 2029 host
