Haunted Hotel Season 2 Review: Spooky Laughs, Ghostly

If you want a Halloween watch that makes you giggle one minute and tear up the next, Haunted Hotel Season 2 is an easy pick. This Netflix animated comedy mixes the creepy isolation of a horror classic with the cosy, quirky family charm of a sitcom. The second season keeps that formula and gives it more feeling.

Haunted Hotel: The Story So Far

Created by Matt Roller, the series follows Katherine (Eliza Coupe), who moves into the Undervale Hotel, once owned by her late brother. The place is packed with ghosts, demons and monsters. Her brother Nathan is still around as a ghost, and he helps her manage the chaos, including the immortal demon child Abaddon.

Each half-hour episode stands on its own, so you can jump in without a marathon. Season 2 still rewards loyal fans with callbacks, returning faces and a few long-running mysteries finally getting answers.

Nathan Finally Gets His Moment

The biggest win this season is Nathan. Will Forte was already a highlight, and now his ghost gets a romantic subplot and a more melancholy side. His awkward charm still lands the jokes, but there’s real sadness underneath.

The finale is the emotional peak. Flashbacks revisit Nathan’s early days running the hotel and the family’s first visit, and they reveal the tragedy behind his ghostly state. It answers some big questions, leaves a few open, and hits harder than you’d expect from a cartoon about monsters.

Family Chaos That Feels Real

The show works because the characters feel like people. One episode forces Ben and Abaddon to confront their rivalry. Another has Katherine rethinking her parenting when her daughter Esther astral projects so far she risks losing her soul. The situations are supernatural, but the problems are very human.

Visuals and Horror Easter Eggs

Titmouse gives the show vibrant colours and memorable character designs. Horror fans will enjoy the creature nods to cult favourites like Hellraiser and Attack the Block. The season also finally brings the mysterious “attic ghost” into the main cast, which adds depth to the hotel’s lore.

Haunted Hotel Season 2 is funny, spooky and sincere. It won’t overwhelm you with scares, but it will leave you attached to this misfit household. For more streaming picks, browse our OTT and entertainment coverage or catch up on the latest Netflix news and releases.
