Hanuman Ansh Box Office: The Small Devotional Film That’s Rewriting Bollywood’s Rulebook

Nobody saw this coming. A low-budget devotional drama with no big stars has quietly turned into one of the most jaw-dropping success stories at the Indian box office this year — and it’s still running strong in its 8th week.

A Slow Burn That Turned Into a Blockbuster

“Hanuman Ansh,” written and directed by Dr. Vishal Chaturvedi, opened to almost no buzz. Its first two weeks barely crossed Rs. 1 crore combined. But then something shifted — word of mouth kicked in, and the film’s connection to the story of Neem Karoli Baba, the revered spiritual guru, struck a deep chord with audiences across India.

By its 8th Friday, the film added another Rs. 3 crore, pushing its total nett collection to a staggering Rs. 277.25 crore — an almost unheard-of trajectory for a movie with this kind of humble start.

What makes “Hanuman Ansh” special isn’t just the numbers — it’s the ROI. Made on a shoestring budget, the film has already become one of the biggest return-on-investment stories in recent Bollywood history. With the Rs. 300 crore mark now firmly in sight, all eyes are on whether it can hold steady once Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited “Drishyam: The Conclusion” hits screens.
