Hannibal Mejbri to discuss new contract with Manchester United after record breaking performance vs Burnley

Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri is set to sign a new deal with the club in the coming weeks. Negotiations are expected to start by the end of the year between the player’s entourage and the club to reach an agreement soon. 

The youngster put in a remarkable display recently when he broke the record for the most distance covered in a game for Manchester United since 2019 with 12.9km against Burnley. As of now, he also leads the list of the most pressures and sprinting pressures per 90 minutes.

The 20-year-old also scored an exceptional goal against Brighton when United lost 3-1 to them, and has now impressed with a stellar outing against Burnley. The board is keen to tie him down to the club with a new deal, and the player is eager to do the same. 

The Tunisian spent last season on loan with Birmingham City in the Championship and has been integrated into the first team by Erik Ten Hag this season. With the youngster slowly growing into an impressive figure, it will be interesting to see whether he can retain his spot with so many senior midfielders also at the club.

He had offers from Sevilla in July, and the Spanish side continue to monitor his situation. And if United cannot reach an agreement with Hannibal Mejbri over a new deal, they run the risk of losing a talented youngster with a contract running down quickly.
