343 Industries, the developer of Halo Infinite, has released an update on the ongoing troubles with Big Team Battle as well as upcoming adjustments to the in-game store.
343 said in a blog post that it has acquired telemetry data from the January 19 patch, which did not fully resolve the issues, and is now working on a follow-up patch that should improve the mode. The patch has already been tested, and on January 31, it will be submitted for certification. If all goes according to plan and the patch is authorized, it will be available to everyone on Thursday, February 3 at the earliest.
Big Team Battle has been plagued by problems since before the holidays, so knowing that a true repair is on the way, and possibly soon, is welcome news.
In terms of the in-game shop modifications, 343 began by stating that it is closely monitoring the response to the recent rollout of specific products for sale. In the future, 343 realizes that users want both bundles and the products inside them to be available for purchase separately. Although the store presently does not support this, 343 is investigating how it may “better satisfy the needs and expectations” of fans in this area.
“Through the rest of Season 1, our focus is to provide a better offering of individual items and bundles to help players get the customization they would like without having to buy larger bundles,” 343 said.
Halo Infinite’s store did not always “deliver on value, quality, or pricing,” according to the studio, and the team is working to achieve the proper balance. “The current deals, which will continue to run during S1, are designed to help us figure out what works and what doesn’t. This will take some time, but we are confident that our lessons learned here will have a beneficial impact on Season 2 immediately away “343 said.
“There have also been some questions about how and if previous bundles would return to the Shop, and right now we are looking at this on a bundle-by-bundle basis. Some bundles will come back into rotation and some will be broken up to allow players to purchase their items. We’ll have more info to share on this in the future.”
