Haiwaan Trailer Review: Akshay Kumar Plays a Terrifying Villain Opposite Blind Hero Saif Ali Khan

Bollywood just got a fresh dose of dark, edge-of-the-seat action. The trailer for Haiwaan has dropped, and it promises a chilling face-off between two of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars in never-before-seen avatars.

When Does Haiwaan Release?

Directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, Haiwaan hits theaters on September 11, 2026. The nearly 2-minute-34-second trailer sets up an intense hero-versus-monster showdown at the heart of the story.

What Happens in the Trailer?

The trailer opens with Akshay Kumar delivering a haunting monologue while appearing visibly injured, before revealing his transformation into a menacing, monstrous villain — a bold departure from his usual roles. Opposite him, Saif Ali Khan plays a blind man driven by one mission: protecting his foster daughter at any cost. The result is a tense cat-and-mouse thriller built on vulnerability versus brute menace.

This kind of “hero overcoming physical limitation” narrative echoes classic cat and mouse storytelling, where the underdog’s disadvantage becomes his greatest strength.

Why Fans Are Talking

Akshay Kumar stepping into full villain mode is rare, and pairing him against Saif Ali Khan’s vulnerable yet resilient blind protagonist gives the film a compelling emotional hook alongside the action. With Priyadarshan’s directorial reputation for gripping thrillers, expectations are high heading into the September release.
