When Could It Ship?

The post points to a past pattern: Grok launches have landed three to six weeks after training is finished. On that basis, an October or early November release is plausible, but xAI hasn’t given a date. Releases have slipped before, with Grok 4.7 missing several announced dates.

The “Beats Fable 5.1” Claim

The post’s headline says Grok 4.8 beat Fable 5.1. I found no benchmarks, tests or leaks that support that, and the model hasn’t been released. For context, Grok 4.6 was reported to land just behind Anthropic’s Fable 5 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. Until Grok 4.8 is tested independently, the claim is speculation.
