Griezmann up for sale, Barcelona target City’s Aymeric Laporte

The World-Cup winner Antoine Griemann has been speculated to be used as a bait by the club to get new summer signings to strengthen the squad which seems unfair given only a season to prove his huge transfer of €120 million.

Sport claims that Barcelona has already put Antoine Griezmann up for sale and would be willing to sell the French striker for €100 million. This case is identical to Coutinho’s wherein the club actually had no solid plans of his placement in the squad which ultimately made him a ‘burden’ at the club and Griezmann was brought this season to bolster their attack.

The Blaugranas are keen to improve the squad for the next season but aren’t willing to spending too much, which suggests selling Griezmann for a big sum that would allow them to reinvest on speculated targets like Lautaro Martinez, Neymar Jr.

Even though the fact remains that he has scored 14 goals this season, in difficult situations, he’s still not considered to be essential or a decisive player like Luis Saurez. Big clubs like Manchester United, PSG, Chelsea and Arsenal are being mentioned but it’s not sure whether any of them are seriously interested or not.

On the other hand, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona to bring in Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City to strengthen their defence for the next season and a replacement for ageing Pique.

Manchester City, as for now, remains banned from the Champions League action for the next two seasons, giving hopes to Barca to tempt the centre-back away from the Etihad stadium.

Laporte has been a crucial member to City since his signing from Athletic back in January 2018 and his contract runs until 2025 after extension. The Blaugranas has been keen on Laporte before but now it seems they could reignite their interest as he is looked upon a key player to fits into Quique Setien’s style of football.

Already we’ve strong links of highly-priced players like Martinez, Neymar, David Alaba, Pau Torres so it’s very likely that many Barca players will be shown the doors to gather funds to bring new players to strengthen the club.
