Greenland 2: Migration Cast Guide – Butler & Baccarin Return to Save Humanity

The Garrity family’s survival saga continues in Greenland 2: Migration, hitting theaters January 9, 2026. Director Ric Roman Waugh returns with Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin leading a stellar ensemble through post-apocalyptic Europe. Here’s your complete guide to the cast bringing this disaster film sequel to life.

Greenland 2 Film Overview

Gerard Butler Returns as John Garrity

Butler reprises his role as John Garrity, the protective father and engineer who saved his family during the comet apocalypse. Five years after sheltering in bunkers, John must lead his family across a frozen, lawless wasteland to find permanent refuge. His engineering skills become crucial for navigating extreme weather and hostile survivors.

The Scottish actor gained fame as King Leonidas in 300 and recently starred in Kandahar 2 (2025). He also voiced Stoick in the live-action How to Train Your Dragon adaptation. Butler’s upcoming projects include Jamie Foxx’s sports comedy All-Star Weekend, showcasing his versatility beyond action cinema.

Morena Baccarin as Allison Garrity

Baccarin returns as Allison Garrity, transformed from desperate mother to hardened survivor. In the first film, she fought to protect her diabetic son amid chaos. Now, she’s an equal partner in survival, helping navigate the treacherous post-apocalyptic landscape. Her character evolution reflects the brutal realities of their new world.

Best known as Vanessa in the Deadpool franchise and Inara Serra in cult classic Firefly, Baccarin brings emotional depth to survival scenarios. She’s set to appear in Ángel Manuel Soto’s action-comedy The Wrecking Crew and Travis Knight’s Masters of the Universe, proving her science fiction credentials.

Key Supporting Cast

William Abadie portrays Denis Laurent, bringing international intrigue to the European setting. Amber Rose Revah and Gordon Alexander as Lieutenant Blake add military perspective to the survival journey. Tommie Earl Jenkins returns as General Sharpe, providing strategic leadership from the bunker community.

Peter Polycarpou plays Dr. Haugen, presumably handling medical crises in resource-scarce conditions. Roman Griffin Davis and Sophie Thompson join the ensemble, though their specific roles remain under wraps. For comprehensive coverage of post-apocalyptic cinema trends, this sequel arrives amid renewed interest in survival narratives.

Notable Cast Additions

The expanded ensemble includes Rachael Evelyn as Kerri Holt, Nathan Wiley as Major Green, and Alex Lanipekun as Riley Watson. Sidsel Siem Koch portrays Pia, potentially representing European survivors the Garrities encounter. Trond Fausa and various international actors suggest the film explores diverse survivor communities across the continent.

Supporting players like Shayn Herndon (Steven Holt), Leah Perkins (Officer Jolley), and Antonio De Lima (Charles Williams) flesh out the military and civilian landscape. The extensive cast reflects the film’s scope—spanning multiple locations and survivor factions across devastated Europe.

What to Expect from Migration

Set five years post-impact, Migration explores long-term apocalypse survival beyond immediate disaster response. The frozen European landscape presents new challenges: extreme weather, resource scarcity, and desperate survivors willing to kill for supplies. Unlike the first film’s race against time, this sequel examines what happens after—the grinding reality of rebuilding civilization from ruins.

Director Waugh promises intense action balanced with emotional family drama. Filming locations in Iceland and Europe provide authentic post-apocalyptic visuals that CGI alone couldn’t achieve. The Garrity family’s journey becomes a metaphor for human resilience and the lengths families go to protect each other.
