Google is set to make foldable history with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold – potentially the first foldable smartphone to achieve full IP68 dust and water resistance. Combined with a dramatically slimmer hinge design and larger 6.4-inch outer display, this upcoming flagship could redefine durability standards in the foldable market.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Rumored Upgrades
| Feature | Pixel 10 Pro Fold | Pixel 9 Pro Fold |
|---|---|---|
| Water Rating | IP68 (dust + water) | IPX8 (water only) |
| Hinge Design | Thinner, refined | Standard thickness |
| Outer Display | 6.4-inch (rumored) | 6.24-inch |
| Overall Profile | Slimmer when folded | Current thickness |
| Durability | Industry-leading | Limited dust protection |
Breaking New Ground in Foldable Durability
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will ship with IP68 dust and water resistance, being the first foldable to achieve this rating. This represents a significant upgrade from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s IPX8 rating which only provided water resistance.
Slimmer Profile, Better Experience
The new hinge on the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is thinner, which will make it feel more comfortable in the hand and make the overall foldable thinner. Thanks to this change, Google has managed to increase the size of the outer display without enlarging the phone itself.
The engineering breakthrough addresses two major foldable pain points: bulkiness and fragility. This will make the phone easier to handle and more pocket-friendly when folded, while the enhanced protection tackles durability concerns that have plagued foldables.
For comprehensive foldable smartphone comparisons, check our foldable phone guide on TechnoSports. The competitive landscape is heating up significantly with these innovations.
Google’s next foldable could be one of the most durable on the market, setting new standards that competitors will likely follow. This positions Google as a serious contender in the premium foldable segment against Samsung and other established players.
