The Google Pixel 4a that launched last year was a smartphone that received a positive response globally, mostly due to its pocket-friendly price tag paired with the fact that consumers got a clean UI with software support assurance.
The Pixel 4a came in 2 variants, a 4G and a 5G supporting variant. The Google Pixel 5a, the successor of the 4a has been launched in only a single 5G supporting variant.
The Google Pixel 5a comes with a 6.54″ OLED screen with a 2400x1800p resolution and HDR display. The device has a 60Hz refresh rate along with a hole-punch design. The peak brightness of the Pixel 5a is up to 700 nits. The device has Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.
The Google Pixel 5a is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC with an Adreno 620 GPU. The device has an LPDDR4X RAM and comes in a 6GB+128GB storage variant.
Google has fitted the Pixel 5a with a 4,680mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Coming to the camera specs of the Pixel 5a, the device has a dual-camera setup with a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 lens along with a 16MP ultra-wide angle lens.
The device has an 8MP selfie shooter. Apart from this, the Pixel 5a has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner along with a USB Type-C port, Titan M security module, stereo speakers, dual microphones, and support for NFC.
It has GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou along with a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and barometer. The Pixel 5a comes with Android 11 and is eligible for 3 years of Android OS updates and 3 years of monthly Android Security Patch updates.
The Pixel 5a is launching in only the USA and Japan, for now, it is unlikely that it will launch in other markets but you never know especially since the Pixel 4a was well received in India.
The Pixel 5a 5G is priced at $449 or33,356 INR in a ‘Mostly Black’ color variant. The device is up for pre-orders and the official sale begins on the 26th of August. It is available on Google’s website.
