Google Launches Gemini Spark: A 24/7 AI Agent That Works While You Sleep

The new tool shifts AI from answering questions to actively completing tasks in the background, right inside Gmail, Docs, and Sheets. Google has officially rolled out Gemini Spark in India, a round-the-clock personal AI agent designed to quietly handle time-consuming digital chores even when your laptop is closed or your phone is locked.

What Gemini Spark Does

Rolling out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers over the coming weeks, Spark runs on Google’s secure cloud infrastructure, giving it native access to Workspace tools like Gmail, Docs, and Sheets with zero setup required. Powered by Gemini 3.6 Flash, it marks a shift from AI that simply answers questions to an active partner that completes real tasks on your behalf.

Importantly, Spark always operates under user direction — people choose when to turn it on and which apps it connects to, and it’s designed to check in first before taking high-stakes actions like spending money or sending emails.

Some of the practical use cases Google highlighted include automatically logging flight and hotel confirmations into a travel itinerary sheet, curating weekend event recommendations every Friday, auditing monthly subscription invoices for price hikes, and even drafting personalized email responses to customer inquiries based on a person’s own writing style.
