GodLike Esports Hades Scam Exposed: ₹1 Crore Fraud Shakes BGMI Community

The Indian BGMI esports community was rocked by explosive allegations in December 2025 when Hades Plays (Vinay Rao), the former esports head of GodLike Esports, was accused of orchestrating a massive financial fraud estimated between ₹50-60 lakhs to ₹1 crore. The scandal has triggered widespread outrage, police complaints, and raised serious questions about accountability in India’s burgeoning esports industry.

Hades Scam: Key Information

The Allegations: How the Scam Unfolded

According to reports from multiple sources including letsgrowesports, Hades Plays allegedly solicited funds from various community members over a six-month period using fabricated stories of medical emergencies, family crises, and urgent personal needs. Victims reportedly lent money ranging from small amounts to substantial sums, with the total allegedly reaching ₹1 crore.

The accused reportedly accepted advance salary payments from GodLike Esports while simultaneously borrowing from community members with promises of repayment through his organizational salary. Many victims were content creators, fellow esports professionals, and community members who trusted Hades based on his position and reputation within the BGMI ecosystem.

Popular creator Sharkshe filed an official police complaint, becoming one of the first high-profile victims to take legal action. His case brought widespread attention to the alleged scam and encouraged other victims to come forward.

GodLike Esports Official Response

In a strongly-worded statement, GodLike Esports addressed the controversy, confirming that Hades had been unresponsive for three months. The organization clarified several critical points:

No Authorization: GodLike categorically stated they did not authorize or assume liability for any personal financial transactions Hades conducted outside his professional obligations. The organization emphasized that anyone who lent money based on claims it would be repaid through Hades’ salary “should have inquired with us regarding those claims.”

Medical Emergency Narrative: While the organization acknowledged being aware of Hades citing a “medical emergency” for his absence, they claimed complete ignorance of his personal financial dealings with community members.

Legal Distance: The statement made clear that GodLike bears no responsibility for repaying victims, placing the burden of due diligence on those who lent money. This has left victims like Sharkshe fighting a solo battle against Hades as an individual, with no organizational backing.

Impact on the BGMI Community

This scandal has sent shockwaves through India’s esports scene, particularly affecting trust within the BGMI competitive ecosystem. The incident highlights vulnerabilities in India’s rapidly growing but still-maturing esports infrastructure, where personal relationships and professional boundaries often blur.

The controversy comes at a critical time for Indian esports, which has seen tremendous growth with tournaments like the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series attracting millions of viewers and offering substantial prize pools.
