‘Give Me Some Sugah’ First Look: Taraji P. Henson Stars in Tyler Perry’s New Holiday Netflix Film

A Chicago bakery, a stunning family discovery, and a real-life story that went viral — Netflix just dropped the first images from Give Me Some Sugah, and Taraji P. Henson is leading the charge in what looks like a heartfelt holiday must-watch.

From True Story to the Screen

Previously titled ‘Tis So Sweet, the film has now been officially renamed Give Me Some Sugah and lands on Netflix December 16, 2026, right before Christmas. It’s the second feature from the ongoing faith-based partnership between producer-director Tyler Perry and producer DeVon Franklin, following the success of their first collaboration, Ruth & Boaz, which debuted at No. 2 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movies list.

The film is based on the real story of Lenore Lindsey, a Chicago bakery owner whose life changes after an unexpected discovery pushes her to confront old wounds and find new purpose. Henson stars as Lenore, with Kai N. Ture playing a younger version of the character in flashback scenes.

A Stacked Cast and Crew

Russell Hornsby plays Robert, with Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Joey Bada$$ rounding out a strong supporting cast. Behind the camera, director Tasha Smith brings experience from shows like Bel-Air and BMF, while the script comes from Randy Brown, known for writing the faith-based hit Miracles from Heaven.

This marks Henson’s continued run as one of Netflix’s most reliable leading names, following her performance in Perry’s 2025 hit Straw, which racked up over 191 million viewing hours. Henson has built a career spanning film, television, and stage — details on her full body of work are available on her Wikipedia page.
