Gatta Kushthi 2 Box Office: The Underdog Sports Drama That Refuses to Slow Down

Ten days in, and Gatta Kushthi 2 is still flexing its muscles at the ticket window. The Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi starrer added Rs. 9 crore in its second weekend, taking its total gross to a solid Rs. 34 crore in India. A 45% drop from the opening weekend might sound steep on paper, but for a mid-budget sports actioner, that’s actually a healthy hold — proof that word-of-mouth is doing the heavy lifting.

Where’s the Money Coming From?

Unsurprisingly, home turf is doing the heaviest lifting. Tamil Nadu alone has contributed a massive Rs. 30.50 crore, with Karnataka chipping in Rs. 2.25 crore and the rest of India adding around Rs. 1.25 crore. That regional dominance mirrors the pattern most Tamil cinema releases follow before slowly expanding their footprint nationally.

With weekday numbers picking up again post-second-weekend, trade estimates suggest the film could close this week near Rs. 13-15 crore more, nudging its overall cume close to Rs. 40 crore. If that trend holds, Gatta Kushthi 2 is set to become Vishnu Vishal’s first-ever half-century (Rs. 50 crore) grosser — and already his biggest hit in India till date.
