Samsung is finally addressing charging speed complaints with the Galaxy S26 series, bringing surprising upgrades across the lineup. The base Galaxy S26 will reportedly support 45W fast charging—matching the Plus model—while the Ultra variant leaps to 60W, marking Samsung’s most aggressive charging advancement in years.

Base Model Gets Major Boost

The standout surprise is the Galaxy S26’s jump from 25W to 45W charging. Previously, the Galaxy S25 could charge 55% in 30 minutes with its 4,000mAh battery. With the rumored 4,300mAh capacity and 45W support, the S26 could potentially reach 70% battery in 30 minutes—a significant quality-of-life improvement for users frustrated by Samsung’s conservative approach.

Tipster Ahmed Qwaider revived these hopes after earlier certifications disappointingly showed 25W speeds. The charging upgrade accompanies a larger battery, addressing two user pain points simultaneously.

Ultra Gets 60W, But Results Vary

The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 60W charging upgrade represents Samsung’s acknowledgment that competitors like Xiaomi and OnePlus have surpassed them. Official test results show the S26 Ultra charging from 0-75% in 30 minutes under controlled conditions, according to leaker Ice Universe.

However, real-world performance may differ. The Galaxy S25 Ultra already reached 70% in the same timeframe with 45W charging, suggesting the 60W upgrade delivers modest practical gains—just a few percentage points for an extra 15W. Temperature, accessories, and usage during charging all impact speeds.

Wireless Charging Evolution

The entire S26 lineup will feature Qi2.2 charging with built-in alignment magnets, improving wireless convenience. The S26 and S26+ support 20W wireless charging, while the Ultra jumps to 25W—both substantial upgrades from current 15W standards.

Thermal Management Breakthrough

Samsung’s ability to implement higher charging speeds stems from advanced heat dissipation systems and USB PD 3.1 with PPS technology, adjusting voltage from 5V to 20V at 3A. Smart IC technology reduces idle power consumption to approximately 5mW, demonstrating system-level efficiency optimization.

Strategic Positioning

With the rumored Edge variant dropped, Samsung refocuses on everyday improvements: longer battery life, faster charging, and advanced silicon-carbon battery technology providing higher energy density in slimmer form factors under 7mm.

For users seeking flagship performance without charging anxiety, the Galaxy S26 series represents Samsung’s first serious response to competitor charging speeds. Official confirmation arrives at the February 25 launch event.
