Fulham vs Chelsea Match Preview, Prediction, Timings, Lineups, Teams, and How to Watch

Craven Cottage closes out Gameweek 1 with a West London derby that’s really a tale of two new eras. Fulham hand the reins to Alvaro Arbeloa after Marco Silva’s exit, while Chelsea trust Xabi Alonso to end a rudderless spell in the dugout. Old rivalry, brand-new bosses — this one has needle written all over it.

Fulham vs Chelsea: Match Details

The Story So Far

Fulham’s new boss Arbeloa leans on his Real Madrid connections, having brought in Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios over the summer, with Garcia tipped to lead the line. Chelsea’s Alonso, meanwhile, is deploying a 3-4-2-1 system built around a red-hot Joao Pedro, who scored seven goals in pre-season, alongside British-record signing Morgan Rogers supporting Cole Palmer. History favours the Blues too — Fulham haven’t beaten Chelsea in back-to-back league games since the 1970s.

Prediction

Chelsea’s superior individual quality should just about tell at the Cottage, with Joao Pedro fancied to have a hand in the outcome. Expect a tight, feisty derby that edges the visitors’ way in a narrow win to open Alonso’s reign on the front foot.
