From World Cup to Answer Sheet: Vaibhav Suryavanshi to Sit for Class 10 Board Exams After U19 Glory

Just days after lighting up Harare with one of the greatest innings in ICC Under-19 World Cup history, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has swapped his bat for a ballpoint pen. The Bihar teenager who smashed 175 off 80 balls to hand India their sixth U19 title is now heading back to his classroom in Samastipur — and his school principal couldn’t be more clear: no VIP treatment.

“This is an academic pitch, not a cricket pitch,” said Neel Kishore, principal of Podar International School, Samastipur. The message was firm — Vaibhav gets the same desk, the same question paper, and the same clock as every other student.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Dual Challenge

🏏 The Stats That Made the World Stop

Vaibhav’s U19 World Cup 2026 campaign was nothing short of extraordinary. He scored 439 runs in seven matches at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49, including a century and three half-centuries. His final against England — 175 runs off just 80 balls with 15 fours and 15 sixes — is the highest number of sixes by a batter in a single U19 World Cup innings.

And if you thought that was outrageous, his total of 30 sixes in the competition set a new record, surpassing South Africa’s Dewald Brevis who hit 18 in the 2022 event. The kid doesn’t just play cricket — he rewrites history books.

📚 Back to Basics — No Special Treatment

What makes this story genuinely heartwarming is the groundedness at its core. Despite a multi-crore IPL deal and international fame, once he enters the exam center, Suryavanshi will be identified only by his roll number, ensuring a level playing field for all candidates.

His father Sanjeev Suryavanshi has always insisted education and cricket must go hand in hand — and that philosophy clearly runs deep.

🚀 What’s Next After the Boards?

Once his exams are done, Vaibhav will turn his attention to the Indian Premier League, where he’ll play for Rajasthan Royals. With IPL 2026 set to begin in late March, the turnaround will be breathtaking — from exam hall silence to the thunderous roar of packed stadiums.
