South Films Releasing This Week (June 2026)

1. Peddi (Telugu) — June 4, 2026

Ram Charan has himself called this his most difficult role yet, and that alone should tell you this isn’t your routine masala film. Peddi centres on a village youngster who excels in cricket, wrestling, and running — and as he deals with everyday challenges, he strives to build an identity using the talent he has honed over the years. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana (the man behind Uppena), the sports action drama is a deeply personal journey of self-discovery set against a rural backdrop. With Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, and Boman Irani in supporting roles, expectations are sky-high.

2. Mollywood Times (Malayalam) — June 5, 2026

If you’ve ever had an obsessive dream and refused to let go of it, this one’s for you. Mollywood Times follows a passionate young man determined to become Malayalam cinema’s greatest horror filmmaker — inspired by acclaimed director M. Night Shyamalan — as he embarks on a challenging journey filled with setbacks, sacrifices, and relentless ambition. Naslen leads what promises to be a heartfelt love letter to cinema and dreamers alike.

3. Parimala and Co (Tamil) — June 5, 2026

Comedy royalty Jayaram teams up with the legendary Urvashi — and honestly, that pairing alone is a reason to buy a ticket. Parimala and Co follows a dysfunctional middle-class family that finds itself caught in a mysterious situation; as chaos unfolds unexpectedly, the family members must do everything in their power to escape it. Directed by Pandiraaj, expect warmth, chaos, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments rooted in family dynamics we all secretly recognise.

4. Mango Pachcha (Kannada) — June 5, 2026

A slow burn with real grit. Mango Pachcha follows Prashantha, a young man who begins his journey as an ordinary DVD store owner in Mysuru between 2001 and 2011 — and as he descends into the darker world, driven by unapologetic ambition and life-altering incidents, the film explores what eventually happens to him. It’s an ambitious period crime drama from the Kannada film industry that deserves attention beyond its home turf.
