Frank Lampard to return to management after 12 months away as new Everton boss

Frank Lampard is set to be the new Everton manager, after positive talks with Farhad Moshiri about the job. The former Chelsea boss will take over from Duncan Ferguson, who is the current caretaker manager of the Toffees.

After interviews on Friday, it is clear that he is the preferred candidate to lead the team for the remainder of the season. But, he has a big task on hand this term, to try and help Everton avoid a first relegation in 71 years.

Frank Lampard to become the next Everton manager

It has been a year since Lampard’s last job in charge of Chelsea. He has held talks with several clubs like Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Aston Villa over the past year, but an agreement has only just been reached now with Everton.

He will be offered a long-term contract by Farhad Moshiri, and his arrival will be confirmed soon to make way for winter signings, especially in midfield. The managerial appointment is expected to be made official soon. Frank Lampard will be exposed to the pressure right away, as he will manage his first game against Newcastle United on February 8th, which will be a must-win fixture.

Everton were linked with former head coach Roberto Martinez and current Derby County manager Wayne Rooney. However, both of them have decided to focus on their current projects, which has opened up the chance for Lampard to return to management for the first time in a year.
