Every Year After on Prime Video- All Episodes & Review

Some love stories don’t end. They just pause — for a year, for five years, for an entire decade — and then, when you least expect it, walk back through your door with everything you left unsaid still sitting behind their eyes.

That is Every Year After in a sentence. And on June 10, 2026, Amazon Prime Video made sure no one had to wait another moment to watch it unfold.

The Amazon Original series debuted all eight episodes simultaneously on June 10, 2026, premiering exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Based on Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Every Summer After — which spent 16 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list, has sold over one million copies, and generated more than 81.4 million TikTok views under the #EverySummerAfter hashtag — this is one of the most eagerly anticipated book-to-screen adaptations of the year.

What Is Every Year After About?

Told over the course of six years and one week in Barry’s Bay — the quintessential Canadian lake town — Every Year After is a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever.

The series follows Persephone “Percy” Fraser (Sadie Soverall), a young woman who returns to Barry’s Bay years after a painful falling-out with her childhood best friend and first love, Sam Florek (Matt Cornett). What begins as a summer of reunion quickly becomes something deeper — an excavation of everything they were to each other, everything that broke between them, and the terrifying question of whether second chances are something you build or something you find.

The story unfolds across multiple summers before bringing its central characters back together years later — and in doing so, it captures the specific, irreplaceable ache of a love that was real before either person knew what real meant.

It is a series that knows exactly what it is: a lakeshore in summer, a face you haven’t seen in years, a feeling you thought you had outgrown.

Prime Video Romantic Drama Comparison

Our Review

★★★☆☆ (3.5/5)

Every Year After is a series that wears its heart openly and without apology — and for a significant portion of its audience, that will be more than enough.

The show has drawn polarised reviews, with some things like the storytelling and the group of friends noted as memorable, while flaws like the slow pacing are also very visible. That assessment is fair. The series is at its best in its quieter, more honest moments — in the chemistry between Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett, in the sun-drenched nostalgia of Barry’s Bay, in the small gestures that accumulate across episodes into something that genuinely moves you.

The romantic drama features a mix of rising stars and familiar television faces, and the casting is one of the series’ undeniable strengths. Soverall is a compelling centre — watchful, wounded, and real — and Cornett matches her with a softness that keeps Sam from becoming a passive romantic ideal. Elisha Cuthbert’s Sue Florek is warmly handled, and the ensemble friend group adds the kind of texture that elevates summer romance from two-hander to something that feels like a world.

Where the series earns its mixed reviews is in the middle episodes, where the multiple-timeline structure occasionally dilutes momentum rather than building it. The emotional climaxes, when they arrive, are earned — but the path to them demands patience the format does not always reward.

Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty will likely enjoy it. And for the right viewer — someone who remembers exactly what it felt like to love a person for the first time in a place that still smells like summer — Every Year After will feel like coming home.
