What Is Every Year After About?

Told over six years and one week in Barry’s Bay — the quintessential lake town — Every Year After is a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever. Amazon MGM Studios

The story follows Percy as she returns to Barry’s Bay, where she left behind a massive mistake over a decade ago. Sam confesses, “Percy being here, it’s bad for me,” as their unresolved love story threatens to resurface — complicated further by the fact that Sam now has a girlfriend.

Think TSITP energy, two brothers, a lakeside town, and a second-chance romance that hits hard.

Every Year After: Cast & Crew

Every Year After stars Sadie Soverall (Saltburn) and Matt Cornett (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Percy and Sam. The ensemble also includes Aurora Perrineau, Abigail Cowen, Michael Bradway, Joseph Chiu, and Elisha Cuthbert. Amy B. Harris serves as showrunner and executive producer. Amazon MGM Studios

Why the Title Change?

Author Carley Fortune explained the decision herself, saying the original title was “too confining as a season for a series,” and Every Year After allowed the story to open up to a broader narrative. Smart move — and it fits perfectly.

Fortune’s novel spent 16 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list, has sold over 1 million copies, and the book hashtag has racked up over 81.4 million views on TikTok. This isn’t just a show — it’s a cultural moment waiting to happen.
