Hope you are aware of the clash between Apple and Epic Games. It all started when Epic Games launched an update to its one of the successful games in the market, Fortnite that skips Apple and Google’s app store payment methods and this violates the app store owners’ policies. After that Apple not only removed Fortnite from the app store but wiped out Epic Game’s developer account also.
Now, Epic is urging the Court to ask Apple to restore Fortnite as well as the developer account. The filing regarding this is made in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
In that filing, Epic mentioned Apple as a “monopolist” who is maintaining it by “explicitly prohibiting any competitive entry”. There is also written that due to the absence of any preliminary injunction, Epic Games is “likely to suffer irreparable harm”.
Epic, in the last filing on Friday, said, “This was a clear warning to any other developer that would dare challenge Apple’s monopolies: follow our rules or we will cut you off from a billion iOS consumers – challenge us and we will destroy your business,”
Well, Apple is very much clear regarding Fortnite’s come back, it only needs to remove the direct payment feature, that’s all. But Epic refused to do that.
