English club takeover: Koeman, Bergkamp, Kuyt and Larsson in talks over sale

An English club in League One or League Two could be taken over by a collective of ex-players, consisting of Dennis Bergkamp, Dirk Kuyt, Henrik Larsson, Ronald Koeman. The news was confirmed by the agent, Rob Jansen, who revealed the information in the podcast, Keift Janson Egmond Gjip. However, he did not reveal the name of the club that was in the process of being bought out.

Kuyt was linked with a takeover for Bolton in 2019, which didn’t end up happening. But this time, it could be different considering there is a strong group of former footballers embarking on the venture together.

“We are in the process of buying a club in England. I’m not allowed to say which club yet,” Jansen said on the podcast.

“I can say which group we will do it with. Ronald Koeman, Dennis Bergkamp, Henrik Larsson and Dirk Kuyt.”

“We are now looking at League Two or League One. We do this with some people around us and we also have the financiers. It doesn’t have to be in London.

“The plan is to manage the football club in the broadest sense of the word. So, the way we think it should be. Training, hospitality, merchandising, marketing, everything. We have a group, and maybe one or two more will join.”

“The names I mention will also do a certain job within the club. Henrik Larsson would like to become a head coach. Bergkamp will set up the academy. And Koeman also comes over to do his things.”

Koeman has had a wealth of experience in managing at the top level, having coached Barcelona and the Dutch national team. On the other hand, Larsson has experience in his native country, Sweden, managing Helsingborgs over two spells.

It now remains to be seen which club is being discussed and what it could mean for the future given the investment.
