Carlo Ancelotti reportedly irritated Eden Hazard as the Italian neglected him again in Real Madrid‘s match on Thursday. Hazard, 31, was an unused substitute in Real Madrid’s 1-0 Copa del Rey loss to Athletic Bilbao, with Ancelotti preferring not to deploy the Belgian even though the team needed a goal.

Hazard’s Reluctance towards Carlo

Unfortunately, the £150 million man spent 15 minutes warming up on the touchline in the expectation of being used, only to be benched, much to Gareth Bale’s delight.

Hazard is baffled by Ancelotti’s unwillingness to give him game time. The experienced Italian has always claimed that his inability to call on Hazard is down to the form of Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo.

However, given his ‘insignificant’ role, the Belgian is said to believe that if he can’t even receive game time for a Copa del Rey game – a competition of minimal importance for Madrid – the chances of him ever having a chance are slim.

About Eden Hazard

Hazard made his senior debut for Belgium in November 2008, when he was 17 years old, after having represented his country at several juvenile levels. On a deal worth £400,000 per week, he signed a contract with Real Madrid until 30 June 2024 for a reported sum of €100 million, which might climb to €146.1 million due to extra fees. If any of the conditions are met, he will become the most expensive player in Madrid’s history.

Hazard’s time at Real Madrid has been a complete disaster, with injuries obstructing his growth at the Bernabeu. When healthy and available, the 31-year-old has failed to impress with Los Blancos, scoring six goals and giving ten assists in 61 games. Hazard has appeared in 18 games this season, averaging 46 minutes per outing. This season, he has one goal and two assists to his credit.
